Caloric intake

I know I can cook well, but for some reason I haven't been trying at all. Last night I ate a chicken, rice, and cream sauce casserole type of thing. It is supposed to feed a family of 4-6. I later found out that I had consumed over 300 percent of the daily recommended saturated fat for a 2000 calorie diet. This afternoon I ate at Gordon Biersch and had a pretty big steak burger. Just half an hour ago I ate reheated Chinese food. Rice and something similar to sweet and sour pork but the real kind. Not the cheap deep fried American type.

Amos 3:13

He who forms the mountains, creates the wind, and reveals his thoughts to man, he who turns dawn to darkness and treads the high places of the earth - the LORD God Almighty is his name.

On bouldering

I'm reading this book called "Stone Crusade". It's gives a brief overview of American bouldering history and highlights a few influential areas and people. The first pioneer of American bouldering was a guy named John Gill. He used to be a gymnast an is extremely strong. Here an excerpt from one of Gill's writings:
"Basic upper-torso exercises include the front lever, the one-arm chin, the slow muscle-up, and the one-arm mantel-press. Some desirable additional exercises are the cross-mount (butterfly mount) on the still rings and the one-arm front lever. The dedicated boulderer will cultivate squeeze-grip chins on beams of varying width, one-arm finger-tip chins on door sills, and one-arm, one-finger chins on a bar."
According to Gill I think I'm only half of a beginner.
This is the one-arm front lever.

i'm definitely being humbled by my grades.

The Bear's Lair Balcony.

The Bear's Lair is the on campus bar/club. It serves beer and plays music and had a lot of people at it tonight. The wall of the Bear's Lair is textured; it is climbable.
I had walked down some stairs after topping out on top of the Bear's Lair into a restricted balcony. I was walking back to where Kyle was trying some climbs when I glanced over and saw a police man making a bee line for us.
He muttered something into his radio. "something, something... west side... something something."
Here is the conversation.
Me: Hey how's it going?
Po-po (pauses, stares at us, stares at the wall, smiles): Are you guys bouldering, climbing?
Me: Yeah... I just climbed up this part of the wall (I point out the path).
Po-po: Dang!
The conversation went on for a while. He told us not to climb campus buildings anymore because we could get injured and then he'd get called in and have to write a report. We got off with a warning, or not even. More like a: "don't get caught doing this."

thunder?

I was studying just now (aka playing solitare) and I noticed a loud boom sound from outside that occured over and over. At first I thought it was thunder, but when looking outside, I realized there was a firework show going on. It's nice having a view of San Francisco.

Rich Ladies

So my Shakespeare seminar professor told me about this.
In north Berkeley there is a restaurant called Chez Panisse. It is a French restaurant where you need to make reservations a month in advance. It costs about 50 to 80 dollars per plate and dinner is served over a period of about 2.5 hours. The only time my professor ever ate at Chez Panisse in his forty years at Berkeley was for a very wealthy woman's wedding dinner.
So, the interesting thing about this woman is she had a stuffed animal hippopotamus. This hippopotamus got a seat at the table and was served every food item. I am told that the waiters didn't even act like they were serving a stuffed animal, but were totally professional.
This woman eventually got divorced. The couple had visiting rights for the hippo.

Sweet Wheels

So I have a friend named Truman So. He used to live in Palo Alto. His dad was the pastor at at my church for a while. On Sundays I would go to Truman's house and we would play bootlegged Play Station games and role play different Mortal Kombat and Dragon Ball Z characters. Eventually I Truman had to move away to San Marino and I never saw him again... At least for a while.
Last year, around this time I found out that Truman was also going to Berkeley. I don't even know how we were still in contact. I guess thats the one good thing that AIM has done. Anyway, we met back up at Cal and somehow started longboarding with a bunch of other people. We normally go between 10 and 11 pm, and are out there the majority of the nights that it isn't raining.
So last night we decided to go to the top of a hill that we normally don't go up. (If you go to Cal, or know the layout of it, we were at the intersection of Piedmont, and the road that goes down to Evans. For some reason there were a lot of campus shuttles going around campus. So I shoot down the hill first. It is a lot faster than what we usually do, but I get to where we usually end this run in one piece and with no falls. After waiting there for about four minutes with no one else in sight, I begin to walk back.
Anyway, I call Truman and learn that he has hit a bus on the way down. From what I have gathered, there was a bus turning right and a pedestrian walking out into the road. Truman tried to squeeze in between the bus and the person. He was unsuccessful and ended up swiping the bus and falling over.
Anyway, I believe Truman is invincible becuase this is the second time he has hit the concrete without getting hurt.
I guess the lesson is to not squeeze in between buses and people when going at high speeds on a longboard.
