Games

I had my first college midterm, or more like tri-term, today. I don't know how I did, and I dont want to give a prediction.
Anyway after the midterm I did absolutly nothing school related for the day. Instead I learned how to play backgammon, cribbage, and casino. I can't believe i never learned these games before. They are a lot of fun. I hope i dont get the 3 games mixed up.
Ah, today was also my first time eating outside the DC on a weekday. Naan and curry. Yum.

The view outside

This is the view from my room. It was taken a while ago, but I feel that I need some visual stuff on my blog. It is pretty cool. You can see the golden gate, SF, alcatraz, and oakland on clear days. The foggy scene isn't to bad either.
Well i have a midterm. I should get back to studying.

Today

Today was pretty awesome. A couple of people from our floor and from some other places went to the SF MOMA. After that we got the earthquake at the ghirardelli place. Then we went to the warf and pier 39. It was pretty fun.
Modern art is pretty weird but I always feel more cultured after looking at things I dont understand. What makes art? Lots of people today were saying that five year old children could make some of the art pieces we saw today. I guess that is true, but I believe that what makes art artistic is the artist choosing it to be art. If the artist who drew it threw his paintings away it wouldnt really be considered art, but just a mistake. The fact that the artist decides to publish or keep one of his works makes it special.
I dont know what would classify famous art though.

Handstands

For the past two weeks or so I have been working on my handstand ability. Now I can walk around for a while and pull off the occasional handstand pushup. Oh the wonderful things you do in college!

a thought

God's purpose is to build relationship, not disambiguate the fact of his existence. His stories show truths about Him and who He is.

Blog spammers

So I have noticed that I get a ton of ads in my blog. Different companies will just post these dumb comments on my blog that has a link to their website that will ask me to subscribe to something or support one of their ideals. This is really annoying, probably even wore than email spam.

Hurricane

So even being at Berkely hasn't helped me in being aware of events happening around the world. I first heard of this hurricane that wrecked havoc on the the south about a week after it happened, and didn't even grip the magnitude of it until I was able to see a video of it during a church sermon last friday. It's amazing how something so big can be sheilded from you when you live in an environment where you dont watch tv or read the newspaper everyday.
It is interesting though how things that happen across the country can come and affect you where you live. All of us 5th floor residents have had our lounge turned into a dorm room for some students who are currently homeless becuase of the hurricane. I have mixed feelings about this, and this has really shown me how selfish I can be.
Upon first hearing of our lounges conversion I was suprised at my reaction. None of us had any idea that this would happen to us, and I was pretty frustrated at the fact. Thinking on it now though, it is awesome that we get to take part in helping out people in need.
I'm just really amazed at how quick we are to think of ourselves.
More later.

Bats

So here at Berkeley we occasionally have bats come into the buildings. Today there was one hanging around the air vent on our floor. It was pretty cool becuase it really didn't want to move anywhere.
Anyway Greg was gutsy enough to dress up in his ninja outfit and hold a bag over it, and Yotam was the filmer guy. So this is on tape somewhere. Anyway Greg held up a bag, I pushed it into the bag, and then Teresa took the bag away and I guess is giving it to the maintenence guy.
Cool story eh?
